It was a gorgeous autumnal afternoon in October, just a couple of hours before sunset, when I had the wonderful opportunity to photograph Stevie and her lovely family on the beach at Bovisand, Plymouth.Â
I have had the opportunity to photograph Stevie before, when I met her at a couple of Native Makers markets at Ocean Studios in Plymouth, where I was the documentary photographer for the event. Stevie designs and hand-makes, beautiful brass and eco silver earrings and rings, for her jewellery label Botanical Boheme, and I knew that she would be perfect to photograph as part of my launch for my NEW Black and White Family Photography sessions, here in the South West.
It was a really relaxed couple of hours, where the girls played on the beach, building sandcastles and running into the sea, whilst bathed in the glorious golden October sunlight.Â
The choice that I have made in shooting in black and white has really paid off, it is such a classic medium, and was my first love when I started out as a photographer. It allows you to focus on the emotions, relationships and expressions, and the family now have a treasury of moments to cherish for years to come.
